Here we go, my former competitor at Miss Universe Canada 2004, Brooke Johnston has snatched the title of "Lettuce Girl" as the official spokesmodel for PETA. Former spokesmodels have included Pamela Anderson and Puerto Rico beauty, Roselyn Sanchez.
I can tell you it was a pleasant shock to see Brooke dawning her lettuce leaves with pride in a skimpy ad for PETA. Shock because she was wearing little more than lettuce leaves. Pleasant because she is working hard for something she believes in.
I wrote her an email to see what's up, and what her thoughts on using sex to promote a cause. Just waiting on the response!
Here's a photo from MUC 2004 where I got to know both Brooke and Natalie (now Miss Universe), I'm not in this shot, but, thems the breaks sometimes. I do have images to prove I was there!
This just goes to prove that you should never deny yourself the opportunity to experience new things or make new acquaintances. It's kind of exciting to now be acquainted with yet another amazing woman who is tearing down barriers for what she believes in!

While I lie in wait for KMS to connect with me and give me information on the next stage of my involvement with them I kick back and chill with my peeps in and out of U of T.
On the weekend I ran into Bobby Manning, fellow co-host of Live from a Small Room and shared a brief moment in a loud club. Conversation was brief, but, he's a great guy and I know that the show will be a blast to do. Keep your fingers crossed that the pilot gets picked up!!
Sorry, no photos yet, but, as soon as there are some shots of all of us from LFSM, I'll be sure to share them with everyone.
But, even before running into Bobby at Tangerine, my girlfriend pointed out to me the success of a model on this month's cover of "Stuff".
"You know she got famous through her Myspace."
"What?"
"Yeah, it's true, she changed it up everyday"
"Well, that goes to show you. You never know who's going to be looking at your Myspace."

So here's the latest! Torontonians are cruising around the city now in cute ballet inspired flats in everything from metallics to even cute sporty little Pumas.
Lindsay Lohan may have been praised on Perez Hilton.com for single handedly reviving the legging trend, but, please make no mistake! Uber trendy Torontonian trendsters have been baffling me with this look since early February. You want it? Simple, grab yourself som mid calf leggings with (or without) lace trim and wear under your favorite knee length dress, skirt or how about the trendy shirt dress.
Shirt dresses are hitting the streets as one of the newest looks for this spring. I think we all sort of fell in love with the idea when the mannequin clad H&M preview of Stella McCartney for H&M line hit the net. So grab a cute shirt dress and slick on a wide belt around your waist.
Update from the Clothing Show: Nicola and I hit the Clothing show this weekend. We were a little disappointed, the bargains we're few and far between, however, what was everywhere? Too much effing smelly vintage, faded tshirts and cropped cargos.
What we didn't see enough of? Fabulous belts (wide, corset inspired, obi inspired), long in the body shirts that weren't made of jersey cotton, ballet slippers, hair bands and pearls!
Trend alert: Try mixing a little punk with a little princess. And, you'll get a surprisingly wearable and girly look.
Soft hair with multiple head bands, maybe a tennis shirt dress found at American Apparel, a pair of leggings and some ballet slippers. Or cut up an old t-shirt and reassemble with multiple safety pins, pair with a pair of tight cropped jeans or pants, ballet slippers and maybe a streak of red in your hair.

Personally, I've completely washed my hands of downloading music. Truthfully, I use an old computer, have a slow connection (thank you Rogers), and don't have time to dedicate to trying to local music files that aren't dummies.
I've discovered Yahoo! Music where it's like a internet radio service, but, the benefit is that you can hear on demand the songs you want, it's a free service, and you can customize it to the music you want to hear. That's exactly what I want.
Also, Rogers on Demand has a free Indie Music portal so you can watch videos of various Independant Canadian Artists. Which I dig. I dig alot.
I feel that the direction that artists are taking is much more progressive then the stagnating stance of the record companies. But, then historically, artists have been the ones that define community standards. They push the envelope, they dwell and the create beautiful art and often poignant commentary. I trust them more than I trust an executive who believes that a loss in a few million dollars is a significant drop in the pan for an industry that generates billions.
That's pocket change!
Mr. Record Exec, please run and shed your crocodile tears for all but me! I feel no sympathy for you!
