Al Gore's destiny as the champion of environmental awareness continues to be fulfilled by the welcoming arms of University of Toronto.

February 21st, the man who would not be president, will be speaking at the end of a day long seminar "Moving Canada Towards Sustainability".

The subject may only be one that makes climatologists wiggle in their seats, but, the opportunity to see the infamous Al Gore is definitly worth it.

What he has to say deserves to be listened to.

I've copied the press release so you can all get the information on the event. Maybe I will see you there?

This just arrived in my inbox:

Toronto, ON. - Former U.S. Vice-President Al Gore will give a public lecture
at the University of Toronto on the evening of February 21st addressing the
threat of global climate change. Gore's visit will come at the end of a day
where the most significant environmental challenges facing Canada and the
world will be the focus of discussion at the University.

"Moving Canada Towards Sustainability", a day-long forum to discuss global
environmental issues, will bring together some of the brightest scientists
and scholars from across the University of Toronto. They will present the
latest science, research findings and issues related to global climate
change, energy challenges, and environment and health, in an effort to
provide direction to governments, industry, policy makers and the public.
One of ten panelists taking part is University of Toronto professor Richard
(Dick) Peltier, a paleoclimatologist whose groundbreaking work aims to
further the understanding of long-term climate trends. Peltier also
contributed directly to the UN's fourth assessment report of the
International Panel on Climate Change that was presented in Paris last week.
"The environment is an urgent matter that has captured the attention of
Canadians in a way previously thought unimaginable," says Ingrid Stefanovic,
Director, Centre for Environment, University of Toronto. "Change at the
pace necessary to stem the damage now being done to the environment will
require a mass of scientists, scholars, governments, advocates, corporate
interests and citizens working together to push the agenda forward today -
not tomorrow." Stefanovic adds that Gore's public lecture will be a
tremendous close to the day.

Tickets to both events will go on sale on Wednesday, February 7th at 11 a.m.
The cost of attending the symposium is $50, with a rate of $20 for students.
